Volunteer Tourism In Nepal

Background :
Nepal is a develpoing land lock country with diverse culture  and ethnic identity. It covers an area of 147181 sq.km with an average width and length of 193 km and 885 km respectively . It lies between two giant nations China and India.Nepal is divided into three diverse ecological Zones  the Tarai (plain) , the Hills and the Mountain. Nepal has a rich geography. The Mountainous north has eight of the world’s tallest mountains including highest point on Earth ,The Mount Everest 8848m above sea level. The fertile and humid south is profoundly urbanized. The dramatic differences in elevation found in Nepal result in a variety of biomes from tropical and subtropical grasslands to subtropical moist broadleaf forest and semi-humid climate coniferous forest and rock and ice at highest elevation. The Population of Nepal is estimated at 29,890,686 people in July 2012.In Nepal ,Hinduism and Buddhism are the main religions. The two have co-existed down the ages and Hindu temples share the same complex as,Buddhist shrines.Hindu and Buddhist worshippers may regard the same God with different names while performing religious rites. According to authentic data  Nepal Urban population is 19% of the total population which indicate that Nepal stands under poverty line .Nepalese rural people are poor due to lack of access to resources ,low productivity ,and land roads to obtain agricultural inputs and sell agricltural produce and one interesting fact is Country’s 80% people are into agriculture.Government of Nepal

has  tried to adopt rural development approach for the development of rural areas after 1950s by intergrated rural development program.Different integrated  rural development programs have been conducted since decade of 1970s and continued.Level of rural development in Nepal is low in compasion to urban indicato  People in rural areas have low access on education ,health, communication
electricity roads etc.Majority of population is still live in rural areas with economically vulnerable life. Most of rural youth have been migrated to third country for livelihood . Nepal relies greatly on development aid policy through the different Fourm,Nepal has been a recipient of foregin assistance since 1952. With the name of Differnt Fourm introduced to Nepal for development “Volunter Tourism” is one of the forum. This work is mostly liked by the youth to present one of the alternative forms of tourism for young people and International Voluntary workcamps. The purpose of choosing this Theme is to point at the importance of youth travels  which has currently received little attention by Tourism Industry. The Youth Tourism or Volunteer Tourism sectors lack profound reserch concerning the differentiation of motives and need of young people engaged in travelling .Different Organisations and associations invloved in youth tourism have estimated that in the year 2000 approximately 20% of all international traveller were young accross the world and according to Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal the number of travellers in the age of 16-30 age group surged by 30% in 2009 which ofcourse has got some positive increase ratio in 2012. Volunteering Tourism is usually associated with charitable activities in third world countires with focus on issues of Sustainability and benifits that volunteer work can bring for local communities .Within this context the volunteering experience can be viewd as an Educational tool for intercurtural learning among people of different cultrual background. The Volunteer tourism provides an in-depth analysis of complex issues associated with traditional and contemporary Volunteer tourism. This groundbreaking vloume explores topic which have not been addressed in the literature before ,such as the impact on the host communities ,introducing new areas and ideas to the feild. This volume is a timely addition offering an innoviate approach to the area.Volunter Tourism will be interest to Both Students and Reserchers interested in toursim ,leisure and development ,as well as non-academics,practitioners, NGOs   government officials at all levels.

Gosai Kunda

Gosai Kunda is the holly place to visit for Hindu and buddhist. It is alpine fresh water lake in Nepal langtang National park located at an altitude of 4380 m above sea level in the Rasuwa District.
The Gosaikunda has been delineated as a religious site .Hindu myth attributes Gosaikunda as the abode of Lord Shiva. The myth tells that during the time  of Satya yug or God time , there was a manthan (spinning ) among  GOD and EVIL and so many thing came out from the sea same time Poison also came out named as KALKUT VISH so every GOD  and EVIL were afraid what to do to get rid of that poison ,so Lord SHIVA  drank that poison , but later for Lord SHIVA also it was terriable to tolerate the poison , his body bacame HOT and Addam'sApple  became blue with the effect of that Poison so to get rid of that LORD SHIVA  throw the trishul (holy three pointed sword ) to the mountain and water came out from the mountain and became lake , then after he drank the cold water to quench the overwhelming heat. Its a holy water are considered of particular significance during thread festival (Janai Purnima ) when thousand of pilgrim from nepal and India visit this area.
we can see on the image that we have religious tolerance among hindusm and buddhism. some Myth from buddism tells that Lord Buddha is the incarnation of Lord Shiva so  in this festival too hindu and buddhist celebrate the Festival. This trek is one of the tuff trek in the Nepal, we have to climb at an altitude of 4380m to reach the Kunda or Lake . we can see the narrow and steep path to reach the Gosaikunda ,evey year thousand of Pilgrims vist Gosaikunda. Among the thousand of Pilgrims i found  the old Grany whoes age was 86 and the most interesting thing is she came alone and carry all of the needed belonging by her self which could not stop me wait and see the brave grany and i took the picture for the memory for my life time memory.we took almost 16 hrs to reach the base camp of Gosaikunda . we took rest and early morning at 3 :15 am we started to reach our destination. This picture was taken at 5:12 am the view of Gosaikunda was aswome i could not explain or write what was my feeling , when i took bath and came out , my body pain and other down feeling was over. I got new energy and power , then i relaise that GOD is great ,even though im living the 21st century in a science life but i can say its the miracal , its the
power of Super Naural Power (holy water ).As we are already clear about the religious tolerance among the hindu and buddhist but still i could not stop my self to take the innocent and holy pray by these ladies. As state in the Myth Lord Shiva Weapon make the whole on the mountain to make the way for water we can see the same in the picture which makes its way to form the lake (kunda). Another intersting feature of this region is that we have 108 lake or Kunda formed ,and i was lukcy to see another Kunda which ive kept here ,but its very difficult to find the 108 kunda , according to local people some traveller treid to find the 108 kunda but not returned back , so i walked slowly and so many question aries in my mind that what had had happened to that traveller ... Coming back to our destination i saw beautiful flower and i went near to have a look then
all of sudden a sherpa i beleive he is the local people of that region ,told me that dont smell that flower , its poisonous , it have toxic which can make me drowsy then i took the picture from the far making sure that toxic wont goes to my nose. after crossing the steep and narrow path we were coming down from the altitute on the way my eyes were attracted by one techniqe it was water collection from the rain. it was very good and simple methord to collect the water , we can see the picuture that how to collect the
rain water ...   watching flora and fauna it took us  approxmiately 9 hrs down track to come to our destination. we can see the road track on the mountain which leads to the another destination China, lets hope we can travel there very soon and i can come back with the new story again .bye for now
